System Automation in Substation in Russia - into approval operation
ROCON’s system automation in substation (SAS) is installed and put into approval operation in a power station “Gertsevo" 220/110/20/10 kV, Moscow. The SAS covers monitoring and control of 110 kV overhead lines.
The project is fully compliant with the specification and requirements of the Russian energy industry. 110 kV overhead lines are equipped with two equal protection relays, MRZ-3 series (the brand name of the DRAGON 3 series for Russian market).
Operating values and signals for one of them are obtained in a conventional scheme, but for the second one - the values and signals are obtained via a Merging Unit (MU) and I/O box. The devices of MU and I/O box are also a part of MRZ-3 series (resp. DRAGON-3 series). The high-speed communication over Ethernet (process bus) between MU, I/O box and protection relay is carried out according the respective standards: IEC 61850-9-2.LE (publisher / subscriber for Sample Values for MU) and IEC 61850-8-1 (GOOSE protocol for I/O box).
